BALDWIN COUNTY: When joining ACOE and paying your membership dues through payroll deduction, you will not be required to send a payroll deduction form to your school district payroll department. ACOE will handle all communications with your school district payroll department and setup monthly payroll deductions for you. Be sure to fill-in the signature and SSN information below so ACOE will have this information to start your payroll deductions.

Descriptions:

Student Teacher: any person attending an accredited college or university and who is taking classes to become a certified teacher.

Certified Teacher: any Alabama certified teacher teaching at any level from pre-kindergarten to college or university level.

Support Person: any person working at a school in a non-teacher role. This includes aides, nurses, bus drivers, maintenance persons, secretaries, etc.

Non-Certified Teacher: any person who is teaching classes for pay, but is not an aide and is not a certified teacher in Alabama.

Substitute Teacher: any person who can legally work as a substitute teacher in Alabama and is employed by a school district. A person employed by a Sub Service is not eligible for coverage.

Please Note: ACOE does not cover full-time school administrators. However, If you are a teacher who also

performs some administrative duties, ACOE will cover you while you are performing non-administrative duties.

To be eligible to upgrade your Student Teacher membership to

Certified Teacher membership at 50% discount off of your

first-year dues, you must have been a Student Teacher

within the past 12 months.
